Innovative Drug Treatment For Boys & Their Families

drugs_2.news3An innovative new residential drug and alcohol treatment program that is geared towards treating young boys and their families has opened in Connecticut.

According to a news release from PRNewswire, Rushford at Stonegate is a 16-bed facility in the town of Durham.

The news release said it is a:

90-day program that provides a distinct combination of comprehensive evaluation, intervention and treatment approaches for adolescent males, ages 13 to 17 and their families.

“Families must also have access to comprehensive assessment, intervention, treatment, case management and support services that are developmentally, culturally and gender-appropriate,” said Dr. Frank Bartolomeo, vice president of child and adolescent services. “Rushford at Stonegate is designed to address all of these needs.”

Bartolomeo said traditional treatment for youngsters with substance abuse problems just aren’t working. There is a high rate of relapse and that takes its toll on a family.

“Our program incorporates the latest research findings in the effective treatment of adolescent addiction disorders and is designed to strengthen family bonds during treatment to support long-term, sustainable results,” he said.

Stonegate is located on 43 sprawling acres, providing a home-like setting to make it easier for recovery of these troubled kids.
